Professional Experience

  • The Freedom Theatre, 2011 - present, Occupied Palestine.  Provides training and artistic direction to Playback Theatre troupes in the occupied West Bank. Leads the Trauma Response Training Program, an 18-month, accredited educational program for mental health workers in Jenin District. Facilitates psychodrama for individuals and groups.
  • Kairos Theatre, 2008 – 2011, USA. Delivered capacity building, community building and trauma response workshops in Theatre of the Oppressed, Playback Theatre and other applied theatre methods to diverse community groups in USA and Mexico. Co-created participatory theatre events in solidarity with communities targeted by structural violence and systemic oppression.
  • Healing the Wounds of History Institute, 2010 - 2011, USA. Developed and facilitated arts-based initiatives promoting community building with migrant and refugee communities impacted by colonization and collective trauma. Provided consultancy services for organizations in USA, Pakistan and occupied Palestine.
  • Living Arts Counseling Center, 2009 – 2011, USA. Provided individual, couple, family and group therapy. Provided consultation and training in trauma awareness and workplace wellbeing to community sector professionals.
  • Colony 47, Family Services, 2005 – 2008, Australia. Provided individual and family counseling, mediation, case management, and group work to young people at risk of homelessness and to their parents. Provided training in the St Luke's Strengths Approach to community sector professionals.
  • Centre for Effective Therapy (Private Practice), 2007 – 2008, Australia. Provided psychological services to individuals, couples, families and groups.
  • Dept Health & Human Services, Child and Family Services, 2003 –2005, Australia. Provided counseling, residential care, and recreational services to children and youth under protection orders.
  • Southern Tasmania Community Social Work Team (Intern), 2004, Australia. Provided psychosocial support and case management services to terminally ill patients and their families.
